What is "A New Commonwealth School"?
A New Commonwealth School is a Community-Created Leadership Education Vehicle that provides weekly supplemental classes where students are mentored by their peers' parents and have stewardship over what they learn through mentored projects (mentors are second witnesses to what the parents are teaching), with a liberal arts focus.
The idea of "New Commonwealth Schools" (NCS) was created for modern times by the Leadership Education Mentoring Institute (LEMI). Most mentors teaching at these local New Commonwealth Schools have received training through LEMI. For more information about LEMI and/or their training, please see their website here: http://www.lemimentortraining.com/

Thomas Jefferson Leadership Academy
Thomas Jefferson Leadership Academy is a community of like-minded home school families who gather under the educational principles found in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver DeMille.
TJLA classes are based on the study of the lives and works of the great leaders of the past and present. We endeavor to support students ages 12 through 18 in their pursuit toward scholar-phase education using the Thomas Jefferson education model as we read, write, and discuss classics, as well as participate in organized mentoring experiences. We encourage young adults to gain the vision, sense of mission, abilities and skills needed to employ these learning experiences into their lives.
For more information, or to register for classes, please see their website here: http://www.tjla.net/
